I suppose it's not surprising, but I spent much more time on Tuesday and Wednesday than I expected talking to people about my post. Some of my conversations were with other brilliant young queer ministers who are not dudes, some in tears as they realize that they aren't alone, others recognizing just how widespread this is, still more cheering that someone was able to say it. I also heard from a surprising number of lay leaders, who recognize what happened to their ex minister, or is happening to their current minister –who is brilliant, young, queer, and not a dude.

What I hope was clear is that this problem I identify is not unusual, not in the past. It is real. It is rampant. It is happening right now.

We need solutions.
